While the Academy Awards are still a few months away, buzz about Oscar nominations are spreading through the blogosphere. A few films have near unanimous agreement on Oscar nominations. One of them is the historical drama The King's Speech which stars Colin Firth and Helena Bonham Carter as King George VI and Queen Elizabeth respectively. Both Colin Firth and Helena Bonham Carter seem shoe ins for Oscar nominations. Interestingly, Firth was also nominated for Best Actor last year for his performance in Tom Ford's A Single Man and back to back astounding performances may give him an edge with the Academy voters.
With 10 nominations for best picture it gets slightly easier to choose which films will be nominated. And allows for big blockbusters to be nominated along with the drama filled, low-grossing movies the Academy usually picks for Best Picture. So I'll take a shot.
